Want to support affordable food access for low-income families as well as support local farmers? Consider donating to the DA BUX Double Up Food Bucks program.

We welcome donations of any size. Each donated dollar helps to bring in an additional federal grant dollar into our state. The federal Gus Schumacher Nutrition Incentive Program (GusNIP) is the primary funding source for DA BUX, and GusNIP requires a match of non-federal contributions. Receipts and letters confirming your donation will come from the program administrator,
The Food Basket-Hawaiʻi Island’s Food Bank. The Food Basket, Inc. is a tax-exempt charitable organization under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. Donations are tax-deductible to the extent permitted by law.

Check donations are also accepted. Please make checks payable to “The Food Basket” and specify “DA BUX” in the memo.
Please mail checks to:
The Food Basket, 40 Holomua St, Hilo, HI 96720

If you would like to further inquire about making a donation, please contact the program manager, chelsea@hawaiifoodbasket.org.

If you would like to designate your donation towards the ongoing printing and free distribution of the “Kai and Hōkū Explore Foods of Hawaiʻi” book series to early childhood educators and families, please leave a note with your donation.
